Easy Guide to Installing Vertical Blinds

Easy Guide to Installing Vertical Blinds

Clearly! Installing vertical blinds is a relatively short process. Here is an easy guide to help you through the installation:

Materials Needed:

  • Vertical blinds kit
  • Climbing brackets (included with blinds)
  • Screws (included with blinds)
  • Screwdriver or drill
  • Tape measure
  •  Level

Pencil Ladder or step stool Step-by-Step Guide:

1. Count Your Window:

  •  Count the width and height of your window to confirm that you have the correct size of vertical blinds. Then, note down these steps.

2. Determine Mount Type:

  • Select an inside mount (inside the window frame) or an outside mount (above the window frame). Inside mounts provide a spotless look, while outside mounts cover more of the window.

3. Mark Bracket Placement:

  • Position the brackets at the top corners inside the window frame for inside mounts.
  • For outside mounts, position the racks above the window frame or on the wall where you want the blinds to sag.
  • Use a tape measure and a level to ensure the brackets are level and evenly spaced. Keep the areas of the screw spots with a pencil.

Install the Mounting Brackets:

  • Drill pilot holes at the marked spots to make screwing in the stands easier.
  • Screw the brackets in place using a screwdriver or drill. Ensure they are secure and level.

Attach the Headrail:

  •  After installation, the headrail, or top bar holding the vertical blind slats, should be clipped into the mounting brackets. It's common to snap it into place, so pay close attention to the manufacturer's instructions.

Insert the Vanes (Slats):

  • Hang the individual vane slats onto the headrail. It usually involves sliding them into hooks or clips attached to the rail. Ensure each vane is securely attached and can freely rotate. Install the Valance (Optional):
  • Many vertical blind kits include a valance, a cosmetic piece that covers the headrail. To attach the valance, follow the plant's instructions, which typically involve cracking or hooking it onto the headrail or frames

Test the Blinds:

  • Use the blinds by pulling the chain or cord to open, close, and rotate the vanes. Make sure everything moves smoothly and works perfectly.

Keep Instructions Handy:

Check for Obstructions:

  • Make sure nothing blocks the movement of the vanes or the opening tool. Following these steps should help you install your vertical blinds successfully. Good luck with your project!
